Description

Position Summary: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for routine and unexpected maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the facilities and equipment at Graham. This includes buildings and grounds, mobile equipment, fixed machines and equipment, mobile machinery and a range of powered and hand tools. The employee reports to the Lead Maintenance Mechanic and will work with them at times to complete maintenance tasks. The employee will also be required to work with and oversee specialized contractors for completion of work on campus. This is a position with room for employee growth as they become experienced with the operation and maintenance of a wide range of fabrication equipment and facilities.

Key Results Areas by level of work:

Level I: Quality - Complete and accurate work performed efficiently

1. Production quality and efficiency using appropriate tools and equipment, qualified to perform special processes as needed

  • Plans, lays out, and performs any work or operation that involves the construction, installation, repair, and moving of plant property, equipment, and machinery.
  • Installs, assembles, maintains, and dismantles a wide variety of machine tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to diagnose trouble and repair machine tools, both mechanical and electrical. d. Performs plant construction, building and property maintenance and modifications, utilizing a general knowledge of heating and cooling systems, carpentry, painting, electrical and power requirements, sheet metal, plumbing, or other trades.
  • Performs routine grounds care duties including lawn, driveway, walkway, and parking area maintenance.
  • With a minimum direction and technical assistance, installs and maintains necessary piping for air, water, hydraulic, oil, streamlines, and sprinkler system.
  • Installs and maintains belts, chains, scales, pulleys, shafts, machine guards, etc.
    h. Able to work with and train other team members on new tasks and skills.

    2. Follow instructions - oral and/or written

    a. Works from drawings, sketches, formulas, manuals, samples, specifications, prints, and written and verbal instructions.

    b. Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or his/her designate.

    3. Safety & housekeeping

    a. Observes safe working procedures and monitors good housekeeping standards.

    b. Correct unsafe conditions as found and report to maintenance lead.

    4. Continual Improvement suggestions

    a. Advises supervisor of repairs which are beyond capabilities of the department.

    b. Suggests changes that can improve machine operations and reduce maintenance costs and downtime.

    c. Provide recommendations for new equipment, maintenance and repair based on observed conditions of facilities and equipment.

    5. Professional Development

    a. Demonstrates initiative, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for the job.

    b. Will follow up with supervisor on professional development goals and opportunities.

    c. Takes an interest in and notifies supervisor of their intentions for growth with the company.

    d. Seeks out assistance from supervisor or other team members to learn new skills and instruction on completion of new tasks.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.

    Education and Training

    --- Technical Trades School or equivalent in one or more trades including Machining, Welding, Electrical and/or Mechanical repair.

    --- High school Diploma

    Experience:

    --- 3+ years of maintenance experience

    --- Previous work experience should include maintenance activities such as buildings and grounds, machining and welding equipment, and mobile equipment.

    --- 3 years of on the job experience in lieu of formal education.

    Other:

    --- Must be willing to work overtime as required.

    --- Must be available to address maintenance concerns at the facility outside normal work hours on a call-in basis.

    --- Minimal travel may be required.

    4. Training in the use of wide range of tools used in maintenance of equipment and facilities including welders, electric and pneumatic hand tools and mobile equipment such as forklifts and man lifts.

    6. Able to diagnose and perform basic repairs and maintenance on office and industrial fabrication facilities and grounds.

    7. Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and repair powered and manually operated hand tools such as drills, grinders, etc.

    8. Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and repair machine equipment including manual and CNC controlled.

    9. Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and repair welding machines and accessory equipment.

    10. Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and repair analog and digital electrical systems.

    11. Ability to successfully plan, self-direct, and implement objectives within established timelines and work schedules.

    12. Basic computer skills required to enter information into work order and maintenance database systems.

    13. Maintain current technical knowledge pertaining to position; demonstrates comprehensive, flexible range of skills and abilities; seeks to enhance skills and abilities through cross training and educational development.

    --- Physical demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is primarily required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend. Required to speak and communicate clearly with others. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Corrected vision to 20/20 or adequate and ability to identify and distinguish colors.

    --- Mental demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to read, write, analyze data and reports, exercise judgment, develop plans, procedures and goals, present information to others and work under pressure.

    --- Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to high level of manufacturing and equipment noise. Duties are performed indoors and outdoors in a manufacturing environment with temperature changes. Exposure to hazardous materials, fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts with vibration.

    Salary Description

    36,000-55,000
