Continuous Improvement Specialist / Industrial Engineer
Position Summary: Responsible for all of the Buffalo Plant Industrial Engineering activities and functions to support both the short term and long-term manufacturing objectives through efficient and cost effective programs.
Reports to: Continuous Improvement Manager
Essential Functions/Duties:--- Through detailed analysis and problem-solving techniques, develops and implements programsand procedures to maximize equipment and process utilization and overall product quality.--- Collects data on production performance and develops and utilizes new and established metricsto provide direction to managers to improve product quality and overall plant performance.--- Assists Training Department to develop and implement training programs to improve productknowledge, employee performance and general problem-solving skills.--- As required, participates, leads, and develops programs to expand employee participation andimprove overall communication.--- Utilizes Production Simulation and Theory of Constraints to identify bottlenecks inmanufacturing processes.--- Represents management in union management contract negotiations and/or disputespertaining to Industrial Engineering related matters.--- Assists in developing performance indicators, budgets, capital expenditures, capacities, layouts,methods, and training programs to support the long-term viability of the Buffalo Plant toprovide quality products at a competitive cost.--- Responsible for machine and labor cycle times in the standard cost system.--- Responsible for developing and maintaining Output Standards for all equipment using the MOSTsystem.--- Is committed to and promotes teamwork throughout the organization.--- Other duties as assigned.--- Assists the Business Center team in leading the organization through a cultural change to anenvironment of continuous improvement.--- Coach and educate Business Center personnel at all levels on the use of CI and LEAN tools.--- Plan, deploy and lead CI projects that will produce significant cost savings, productivityimprovement, quality improvement and improved manufacturing efficiency.--- Organize, design, implement, and lead CI activities that will positively impact SRUSA's businessprocess.--- Justify the allocation of resources to CI activities and projects through the use of data andarticulate return on investment--- Create, communicate, and present project status reports to provide credibility and visibility to CIinitiatives.--- Be an unwavering advocate for CI methodology providing mentoring and support to allassociates and leadership teams to bring about the necessary cultural changes within theorganization.
