POSITION SUMMARY:

The Process Controls Engineer will be a member of the Linde Global Applications Equipment team. In this role, the successful candidate will design and implement control strategies, programs and control equipment for new process application development and commercial technology implementation. This will require working closely with other application engineers and project managers as well as global commercialization team members, Linde Regional Business Units (RBU) and Linde customers.

The successful candidate will also be expected to select gas flow process and instrumentation equipment (valves, transmitters, etc.), manage the fabrication process, commission, and startup the application equipment at global customer locations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, the ability to "self-start" with minimal direction, strong organizational and project management skills, safety focus and experience in industrial process applications including gas processing and combustion technologies. This position provides the opportunity to work on process control projects in an all-encompassing fashion - from initial project conception to successful startup at the customer.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Leading the control system design and implementation through all stages of a first-of-a-kind or commercial application project
• Participation in internal and external safety reviews, compliance with all Linde safety standards
• Selection and procurement of control hardware and programming software for the control systems
• Writing functional descriptions
• Programming PLCs and interfacing with measurement hardware and process components
• Managing vendors and fabricators through the process skid equipment fabrication process
• Communication with customers on implementation and interfacing of control equipment
• Startup, troubleshooting and optimization in collaboration with other Linde and customer engineers.
• Developing control strategies for new technologies in collaboration with R&D team members
• Documenting the final programs and customer project information
• Supporting field demonstrations and commercialization of combustion technologies worldwide
  
  Qualifications:
  
  Salary and Job Grade Commensurate with Experience
  
  Basic:
  
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • 5 or more years of experience in programming of PLC systems and executing industrial control implementations
  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and/or Siemens PLCs and software (ControlLogix etc., Step 7)
  • Demonstrated experience implementing control projects and small equipment
  • Ability to work in industrial plants and on elevated platforms
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time (domestic and international)
    Preferred:
    
    • Master's degree in Computer Science or Controls Engineering (or related discipline)
    • Experience with safety PLCs including safety control hardware and legacy PLC software
    • 5 or more years of industrial control experience in combustion, process, heat transfer or petrochemical applications
    • 3 or more years of experience leading complex projects and selecting gas processing equipment
    • Industrial equipment startup and optimization experience
    • Gas flow control skids sizing and design experience
    • Experience working in the Industrial Gas industry
