Position Job Title: Level 1 RN - Med/Surg Profession: Registered
Nurse Specialty: Acute: Level 1 RN - Med/Surg Duration: 14 weeks
Shift: Part Time (2 shifts of 12 hours) - day or night shift as
scheduled Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 Year
Experience in a Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse License:
New York State RN Licensure Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS
Must-Have: - Minimum of 1 year experience in a Med/Surg environment
as a Registered Nurse - New York State RN Licensure - BLS and ACLS
certifications Description: The Registered Nurse applies knowledge
of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication skills in
delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and
families. The RN assesses patient needs and develops a care plan in
collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The RN provides
direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care
delivery throughout the patient’s episode. Specialized skill in
cardiac care including telemetry monitoring is developed by the
Med/Surg RN. The RN is accountable for patient and family education
to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization. The RN
promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a healing
environment. The RN applies nursing knowledge and skills by
assessing patient and family needs through active listening and
social perceptiveness. The RN analyzes data obtained through direct
observation and assessment, technology, or team communication. An
individualized, culturally relevant plan of care is created to
address identified health problems. The RN collaborates with the
patient, family, physician, and healthcare team to set goals and
monitor progress. The care plan is adjusted based on patient
response or changes in condition. The RN advocates for and protects
the health, safety, and rights of the patient. Quality and
effectiveness of nursing practice are systematically evaluated. The
RN engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths
and areas for professional development. Logic and reasoning are
used to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative
solutions. The RN demonstrates skill in nursing interventions
including medication administration. Patient and family motivation
is achieved by teaching them necessary skills for continued care
and healing at home. Patient and family learning styles are
assessed to maximize understanding during education sessions.
Teachable moments are sought during care delivery to emphasize key
information. The RN documents education provided and responses from
the patient and family. Mutual trust, respect, and cooperation
among team members are encouraged. The RN teaches others as
appropriate and delegates tasks in line with each individual's
education and training. Infection prevention strategies are
complied with, and competencies required for specific populations
are maintained. Potential safety risks and questionable practices
are reported. Leadership awareness is promoted, fostering positive
change. The RN conducts rounds and uses tools to keep patients and
families informed and engaged. The nursing practice reflects the
significance of making meaningful connections with patients and
families. Efforts are made to develop a caring relationship by
