Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical Location: Geneva, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,150 per week Shift Information: 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 14 Weeks Start Date: 3/2/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Geneva, New York, 14456! Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Duration: 14 Weeks Shift: Full Time Day or Night Shift (3x12 hours) Hours per Shift: Scheduled as needed, including every other weekend and holiday, plus 2 On Call shifts per 4-week period Experience: Two years acute hospital experience as a registered nurse, with at least one year in an emergency department License: Active registered nurse licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (must be AHA or RQI) Must-Have: Two years of experience as a registered nurse, including one year in an emergency department Description: The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication skills in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provides direct care. The nurse applies appropriate interventions and evaluates patient progress. The ED RN demonstrates proficiency in using various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions. This includes management of life-threatening and routine emergency situations. The ED RN utilizes the principles of relationship-based care to alleviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain, discomfort, and safety. He/She assesses physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients across all age groups, their families, and support systems as appropriate. The nurse connects with patients and families during triage, identifying initial management of patients and assigning priority of care according to triage standards. The ED RN establishes rapport with patients and families, addressing comfort needs, listening carefully, and assessing nonverbal communication while providing frequent updates. The emergency department nurse conducts a primary assessment of critical need, detecting and documenting major deviations from the norm within acceptable time frames. They identify necessary steps and interventions required based on direct observation, patient/family interviews, EMS reports, and data for secondary assessments. The nurse assesses psychosocial needs and documents any suspicion of domestic violence or abuse in all age groups. They reevaluate the patient to identify responses to treatment and changes in condition, responding appropriately. The ED RN encourages and builds trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. They teach others as appropriate and delegate tasks consistent with each individual's education, training, and scope of practice. The nurse understands the responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies. They prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, making appropriate referrals for post-emergency care. The ED RN teaches patients what is needed for continued care and healing at home. They assess patient and family learning styles to maximize understanding and evaluate retention of key points during education sessions. The nurse acknowledges what is most important to patients and families, ensuring they are central to all care and services. Emphasizing the importance of creating a Healing Environment is key to professional nursing practice. The ED RN keeps patients and significant others informed of the care process, anticipating needs and maintaining awareness of the patient’s condition throughout their visit.
