support and our employees alike. Your Core Responsibilities: As
Nursing Supervisor II, you will provide leadership, oversight, and
support to Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses
(LPNs), ensuring high-quality nursing services across designated
programs. Key responsibilities include: Provide supervision,
guidance, and orientation for assigned RNs and LPNs; complete
performance appraisals and monitor schedules, coverage, and
training compliance. Ensure compliance with regulatory expectations
through site observations, review of nursing documentation,
oversight of electronic records, and regular check-ins with nursing
staff. Ensure RNs provide comprehensive, required training to LPNs
and direct support staff. Collaborate with site leadership on LPN
schedules and assignment changes. Determine which nursing tasks may
be completed by direct support staff, ensuring all staff operate
within their proper scope of practice. Support communication with
families, guardians, and site teams related to medical needs;
attend family meetings as requested. Notify Nursing Leadership of
significant medical or behavioral changes, hospitalizations, or
upcoming surgeries; ensure plans and protocols are updated and
staff are trained accordingly. Review intake information for people
being considered for services; assist with developing care
protocols and plans for new admissions in collaboration with site
RNs. Alert Nursing Leadership to concerns regarding performance of
assigned nurses. Participate in screening and interviewing
applicants for open nursing positions. Ensure follow-up actions are
completed for internal medical audits and OPWDD survey outcomes.
Attend Clinical Team meetings as needed to support coordinated and
timely nursing services. Co-facilitate routine agency nursing
meetings and provide training as requested. Provide RN coverage for
residential or day services programs as needed. Perform other
duties as assigned. What You Bring: Current, unencumbered RN
license issued by the New York State Department of Education.
Minimum of 1 year of RN experience. Experience working with
individuals with developmental disabilities and strong knowledge of
OPWDD regulations (required). Prior supervisory experience
(essential). Strong communication skills, including the ability to
read and interpret clinical plans and regulations, write
professional reports, and communicate effectively with individuals
supported, families, staff, and regulatory agencies. Strong
reasoning and critical-thinking skills with the ability to analyze
information and navigate complex situations. Ability to lift or
assist with lifting up to 35 lbs as needed. Ability to meet
Lifetime Assistance Vehicle Operator requirements (as applicable).
