Physician Jobs: This is a generalized description of locum pain
management physician job requirements. Specific assignment details

General Job Responsibilities: Evaluate patients experiencing acute
or chronic pain, review medical history and perform physical exams
to diagnose pain sources. Design individualized treatment plans
that may include medications, physical therapy and interventional
procedures such as nerve blocks or spinal injections. Perform
pain-relief procedures, such as epidural steroid injections, facet
joint injections and radiofrequency ablations. Monitor patient
progress and adjust the plan as necessary, ensuring patient safety
and the management of side effects. Provide patient education about
conditions, treatment options and post-care management strategies.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement
patient care plans. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
Skills: Extensive understanding of pain mechanisms, assessment
techniques, and both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment
options. Ability to assess complex cases and make informed
decisions on appropriate interventions. Proficiency in performing
interventional pain procedures. Capable of identifying and
resolving issues related to pain management treatment plans. Strong
communication skills to explain complex medical information to
patients. Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and
different medical teams. Minimum Education Requirements: Doctor of
Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
from an accredited medical school. Residency training program in
anesthesiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, or
a related field accredited by the Accreditation Council for
Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic
Association (AOA). Fellowship training in pain management, focusing
on advanced pain management techniques and interventional
procedures. License & Certifications: Board certification in pain
medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), the
American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) or
the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Active and
unrestricted medical license in New York. Experience: While
specific requirements may vary, most locum pain management
