Sr. Product Development Scientist
BakeryThe Sr. PD Scientist will be responsible for planning and
organizing research projects and overseeing younger scientists
through the scale up and commercialization of products.
Contributing your technical knowledge to the betterment of the
bakery team, your dough-rheology knowledge will be critical. NPD
and product maintenance will be for non-sweet breads such as
baguettes and rolls. This role will be an ideal chance to grow your

package.Purpose StatementPlans, organizes and conducts theoretical
or applied scientific research, which contributes the technical
knowledge and expertise necessary to commercialize and expand
existing company business platforms. Analyzes research data and
prepares detailed reports and presentations for R&D management
and other key stakeholders. Provides technical leadership and is a
key contributor to initiatives in product / process
developmentResponsible for NPD, product maintenance and product
improvement for assigned category. Collaborate with cross
functional teams to ensure successful development and
commercialization of new products, product improvement or cost
reductions. Conduct research and development activities concerned
with dough rheology and baked product formulations in order to
develop new productsAccountabilities require the ability to
successfully partner with others cross-functionally through
efficient, timely communicationProvides technical leadership and is
a key contributor to initiatives in product / process
developmentWill have limited supervisory responsibilitiesKey
Accountabilities / OutcomesActs as a project leader, planning,
managing and conducting research projects in product or process
development or in specific area of expertise (microbiology, food
chemistry, engineer). Establishes project methodology and
timetables, identifies and organizes project team, coordinates
other needed resources and monitors project progressProvides
guidance and day-to-day supervision to members on scientific
project teams. Mentors associates within the R&D department by
sharing technical knowledge and expertise and providing necessary
trainingProposes new or innovative methods for using technology to
resolve problemsPrepares and edits reports and regular updates,
providing concise summaries of project work. Present project
results and recommendations to various audiences including R&D
associates, other company staff and interested external groupsSeeks
centers of expertise or technology, inside and outside of the
company, which may provide beneficial knowledge related to research
activities. Communicates and shares expertise with othersRepresents
the company with outside vendors, suppliers, universities,
associations and governmental agencies. Maintains confidentiality
of proprietary informationPerforms related responsibilities, as
needed, to support the company s business
objectivesKnowledge/Skills/ExperienceBachelor s degree in Food
Science or related field (e.g., Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Food
Engineering, etc.) with 8+ yeas industrial, applied research
experience, in job-related field OR Master s degree in Food Science
or related field (e.g., Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Food
Engineering, etc.) with 6+ years industrial, applied research
experience, in job-related fieldSolid verbal and written
communication skills including presentation skillsDemonstrated
ability to work in a fast-paced environmentProven record of
independently achieved accomplishments as demonstrated by: products
/ process / technological innovation and/or improvementDemonstrated
ability to influence and lead othersPlans, organizes and conducts
theoretical or applied scientific research, which contributes the
technical knowledge and expertise necessary to commercialize and
expand existing company business platforms. Analyzes research data
and prepares detailed reports and presentations for R&D
management and other key stakeholdersMentors associates within the
R&D department by sharing technical knowledge and expertise and
providing necessary training. May have limited supervisory
responsibilitiesSolid PC proficiency (Excel, Word, database,
statistical software) and the ability to create spreadsheets,
computer analysis, report writing. Proficient with relevant
software tools (e.g., PLM, etc.)Interfaces frequently with various
internal and external groups within industryTravels regularly, up
