Pipeline and Metering Controls Engineer/Team Lead Job Location US-NY-Tonawanda # of Openings 1 Category Engineering Overview The Pipeline and Metering Controls Engineer/Team Lead is part of the Pipeline and Metering Engineering group within the Linde engineering organization. This role will collaborate with a small multifunctional team to continuously improve reliability and competitiveness of pipeline and metering product offerings. This role also interfaces with Linde Business Development and Sales teams, internal and external industrial gas customers. The position is expandable to include a supervisory role for metering project work assignments, schedules, technical guidance, and leadership oversight to the pipeline and metering team. Responsibilities The Pipeline and Metering Controls Engineer/Team Lead shall be responsible for, but not limited to: Responsible for Scope definition, proposal development, project execution/engineering. Performs pipeline and metering project engineering work from design to implementation in accordance with Linde Engineering policies. Is recognized internally for knowledge of customer metering and pipeline control station design and operation. Process modeling and equipment sizing for pipeline and metering systems including but not limited to regulating meter stations, pipeline letdown and trip stations. Implementation of flow computers and integrated control systems for pipeline and metering systems including but not limited to configuration, programming, human machine interface control panel layout, shop/field checkout, pre-commissioning, and start-up support. Ensure metering and controls design are compliant with applicable pipeline and metering codes, standards, and internal Linde standards/guidelines/Policies. Provide technical oversight and training to pipeline and metering personnel to ensure high quality, and cost-effective consistency to Pipeline and Metering Projects. Actively assist the Department Manager in the development of department standards, guidelines and procedures, design workflows, and datasheet/specification templates. Assist Department Manager in the development of project schedules and resource planning. Provide Department Manager with regular project progress reports. Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions, and decisions. Qualifications Typically requires B.S. in Engineering with at least 5-10 years of demonstrated experience in performing one or more of the following: process simulation/design, control system design, mechanical pipe and structural design (above/below ground). Capability or functional knowledge base with ASME B31.3, B31.8, B31.12, CFR 49 Part 192 Codes is beneficial. Familiarity with pressure and flow modeling to size/specify Valves, meters, and pipeline safety systems for a variety of Industrial gas applications. i.e.) nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, argon, etc. Proficient in programming and implementation of flow computers (Emerson FloBoss) as well as other control systems such as Allen Bradley (PLC5/SLC500/Control logix), or Siemens S7. Working knowledge ASME, CGA, API, and ISO standards as it applies to pipeline and metering systems. Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, Visual Basic, and other company and discipline specific software applications. Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to manage workload independently and prioritize multiple assignments according to project schedules. Must be able to travel up to 10%.
